Hong Kong, which had Andrew along with Tyler Carpenter and Mitch Gitelman handling the story, is just very well thought out - it makes my job easy. The backdrop of futuristic Hong Kong was incredibly cool as a composer to tackle. Hong Kong isn't just a neon backdrop, its the main character, with all its history and baggage. I wanted to make sure I approached it with great care and thoughtfulness. Mixing live traditional Chinese and Hong Kong instrumentation with synths and western orchestra was pure joy for me. I've had several people who grew up or live in Hong Kong tell me how well I captured its essence, which I found very gratifying. I actually used field recordings from street performers and ambiences from the MTR to add more subtle realism. I approached it like I was writing music for a TV series, and I'm thrilled that people seemed to enjoy it.
